S H BOOKS FOR QUIETER MOMENTS

A BOOK AT YOUR OWN PACE

A few pages.
A little time.
A plan that fits.

Turn the book you want to finish into a manageable number of sessions. Start with the time you actually have, and leave room for days that go differently.

Find your reading rhythm.

One page a minute is just an example. Read for five minutes at a comfortable pace, then divide the pages you read by five. Different books will give different results.

Example: 12 reading sessions

240 pages at 1 page a minute, for 20 minutes each session.

At one session each day, that is about 12 days. Missing a day simply moves the finish.

This is an estimate, not a deadline. Entries are not saved when you leave or reload. Use Print to keep a paper copy or choose Save as PDF in your device’s print dialog.

Make the first session easy.

  1. Choose a repeatable moment. After breakfast, before the evening screen, or when the kettle goes on. Ten workable minutes are more useful than an hour you never have.
  2. Stop at a useful place. A chapter ending can be a better stopping point than an exact page count. The next session can be shorter or longer.
  3. Leave yourself a way back. Note one question, a character’s name or the sentence you want to return to. A bookmark and a few words are enough.

If the plan feels crowded, reduce the session length and accept a later finish. If you miss a day, update the pages or audio remaining and make a fresh plan. There is no streak to lose.

Start with your library.

Ask your local library which digital reading service it offers. Participating libraries use services such as Libby to lend ebooks and audiobooks with a library card. The selection and waiting times depend on the library.

Libby’s getting-started guide explains how to find your library and borrow a title. This is a non-affiliate link. You can also use a book you already own; the planner works with either.

When the numbers do not feel right.

The reading estimate looks too short.

Check whether you entered pages per minute rather than minutes per page. If one page takes two minutes, enter 0.5 pages per minute. Count only the pages you still want to read.

My audiobook app gives a different time.

Enter the time remaining at normal speed. Some apps already adjust the displayed time for your speed setting. Dividing an adjusted duration again would count the speed change twice.

I cannot print or save.

Use your browser’s Print command if the button does not open a dialog. Choose Save as PDF if your device offers it. You can also write down the session count and minutes; no account is needed.
